Viral Polymerase Modularity 197379

During 1973–1979, viral polymerases revealed modular architectures with assembly-state–dependent activity and distinct subunit configurations, guiding template interactions and RNase H regulation across AMV-like systems. Concurrently, 5'-terminal structures and RNA capping features repeatedly governed replication and translation, with observations of pUp termini, methylated caps, and covalent protein attachments at the 5' ends of viral RNAs including poliovirus and reovirus.
